Laura Tomlinson has studied dance since age two. At age 15, she
began choreographing for her award-winning high school dance team.
Continuing her dance education, Laura went to Northern Illinois
University where she studied ballet and modern dance technique under
the direction of Judy Chitwood, Paula Frasz, Randall Newsom, and
Karen Williamson. During her attendance there she taught ballet,
jazz, tap,and hip-hop in the Chicago area. Laura then went on to
study dance at Columbia College Chicago where she continued her
studies in ballet and modern dance, as well as studies in dance
improvisation and choreography.
During
her stay at Columbia College, Laura studied with Krenley Guzman,
Angie Hauser, Dardi McGinley-Gallivan, Banu Ogan, Anna Paskevska,
Natalie Rast, Kirby Reed, Eduardo Vilaro, Erica Wilson-Perkins,
and Richard Woodbury. Laura also took master classes with Jane Comfort,
Lyon Opera Ballet, Robert Moses, Compagnie Tche Tche, and Urban
Bush Women.
In
2004, Laura joined Chicago Dance Crash under the direction of Christopher
M. McCray. She graduated in fall, 2005 from Columbia College Chicago
with a BA in dance, and continued to dance with Chicago Dance Crash.
She also became the artistic director of Dreams Dance in Glenview,
IL. Laura also choreographs professionally for competitive, award-winning
high school dance teams. Laura will continue her dance performance
and teaching career with Corpo.
