According to the traditional definition: B-side songs are released on the same record as a single to provide extra "value for money". One type of material commonly released in this way was a different version (e.g., instrumental, a cappella, live, acoustic, remixed version or in another language/text) of the A-side. Christopher M. McCray, Artistic Director, takes his own spin on the old definition. b-sides is a dance concert in two acts. The first act will contain original choreography by McCray featuring music from Bjork, Wax Tailor and Nirvana. The second act features McCray’s previously performed choreography “remixed” by local and international choreographers including Valerie Alpert, Elijah Gibson, Ray Mercer, Kirby Reed and Lisa Johnson-Willingham. The pieces will be welded together with the help of a local Radio DJ who will introduce each to the audience as though it is a live broadcast on an FM radio station, a time when 45’s were hot and payola was the rule.
