Our Roots

Corpo, Portuguese for body, was born of the vision from its founder and artistic director, Christopher M. McCray.

Corpo Dance Company, Inc. a multi-disciplined dance company committed to challenging, innovating and expanding the performance experience by "exploring and exploiting" the nuances of the human animal using a blend of urban, technical, and athletic movement styles officially opened their new dance studio in Ravenswood.

The Factory, Corpo's Dance Studio, the educational arm of Corpo Dance Company, Inc., is dedicated to bringing quality and affordable dance instruction to Chicago featuring classes in modern, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, as well as others. Corpo Dance Studio opened September 17 and acts as a training ground for dancers seeking professional instruction leading them into the professional world of dance, and the technique and performance style unique to the Corpo Dance Company.
